The overall folio must be well presented flowing narrative, with a human experience. The ideas can be personal or non personal. Narratives that have a personal flow would be a better approach I believe. In doing so, I have to ask my self questions such as why am I the person who has to tell this story? and if I don't do something personal I really know I have to challenge my self, but how?
my ideas:
- The contrast between rich and poor. How some rich people think things just happen because they do, while the poor have to work for every thing they get. In a lot of ways the poor are generally happier then most rich people.
- How we live in such a superficial society, where everyone is so "fake" and "two faced". Everything is so disposable and in the sense, worthless. How people can bluntly ignore someone and pretend there life doesn't even exits or is even worth their time of day.
-The idea of being trapped in Canberra. At this point in time I haven't been stuck in one place for so long. For the past 7 years every few months I would move house or into a new area. So in other words I'm really excited to get out their and start seeing the world again!
-Around some people I couldn't be happier, but then being around certain people they make me feel like complete shit. They take away my sense of belonging, making me feel as though I don't fit in anywhere in society. This feeling isn't their a large majority of time, and %99 of the time i couldn't be happier. It's only when these people are around that I actually start to feel sad and low about myself.
-we are all going to die, so make it last! live life to the fullest and have fun doing it. We spend so much of our lives stuck doing things that we don't enjoy. At our funerals people aren't going to mention how much overtime we did at work or how big our salary is at the end of our lives.

i don't like any of my ideas..... apart from the last one, much more positive note....hehe
Andreas ideas:
-Traditions - within my extended family, how they've changed through time, how they can shape us, how greek culture effects our traditions. I could go into rituals and beliefs as well as traditions of family members. I could take an informal portrait of each family member practising a tradition/ritual of theirs, showing who they are and what their beliefs are. It could be interesting to see the differences in each family members personal traditions in a whole 'album' type book similar to a family photo album. What got me thinking about this was a conversation me, my mum and cousin were having the other day about another family member. We were talking about how my uncle and aunty were saying that all they want for their daughters was to 'find a nice greek boy'. Because one is already dating an Australian boy which has caused tension within the family. examples: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/05/pictures/110511-best-pictures-sony-world-photography-awards/#/world-photography-contest-2011-portrait-dinner_35444_600x450.jpg
-Confidence - something I struggle with every day, not having the confidence to do or say what I really want to. This would be going into a very personal direction which I think could be really good for me to explore and possibly interesting for others
-Money - how we're forced to live in a world where money is always the issue. I wish I didn't have to worry about money. Having money / not having money - how there's nothing really good about it.

Hi Alex,
ReplyDeleteYou make the comment: "and if I don't do something personal I really know I have to challenge my self,". Doing something personal will also be a challenge...should be a challenge. Also, I forgot to write on your other post re: presentation - do think about the idea of combining drawings and images...may or may not work...but try going through the process of experimenting. And, finally...be very careful with spelling. Maybe draft your work in Word and you can use spell check. B
